Modern Knives. Ancient Roots.

Ice Age Blades was born out of friendship, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the tools we rely on every day. Founded by two friends from upstate New York - John Chubbuck, a third-generation industrial machinist and seasoned knife maker; and Dr. Dmitri Serjanov, a neuroscientist (now based in South Bend, IN) and one of the world’s most trusted sources for rare knife handle materials - we set out with one simple goal:
Build high-end, American-made knives without the inflated price tag.
To make that possible, we combined the best of our backgrounds. John brings years of machining experience and close relationships with steelworkers and fabricators across New York State. Dmitri brings a global network of premium handle materials, and the hands-on skill to craft them into the finished handles used in our knives.
At Ice Age Blades, we blend modern machining with hand-finished detail to create knives that look, feel, and perform like high-end customs. Every step of our production, from prototyping to final inspection, happens right here in the United States. We proudly support small American industry at every turn. Only when a material doesn’t exist in the U.S., such as certain specialty composites or rare exotics that have no domestic equivalents, do we source from a trusted international supplier. Everything else, from steel to hardware to sheaths, stays American. We even went as far as sourcing American-made screws for our knives!
Whether you’re buying one of our standard production models or a one-of-a-kind piece featuring a 20,000-year-old Ice Age fossil, you can expect the same commitment to quality, performance, and integrity. A great knife should be used and enjoyed, and it shouldn’t cost a fortune to own one.
Our Mission:
To create premium, American-made knives that deliver performance at an honest price.
We believe knives should be more than tools. They should be reliable, beautifully built, and meaningful to carry whether it’s a daily workhorse or a fossil-handled piece of natural history that you show off to your friends.
Our Values:
1. American Craftsmanship
We proudly build in the USA. From conceptualizing to machining to finishing, we support small American workshops and local industry.
2. Honest Pricing
We don’t believe quality should be inflated by hype. Our goal has always been clear: custom-level performance at a fair and attainable price.
3. Integrity
We use American components by default. Only when no domestic alternative exists do we look overseas.
4. Craftsmanship Meets Innovation
Our knives combine the precision of modern machining with the soul of hand-finishing. Every blade is built to perform, to last, and to feel like something crafted with intention just for you.
5. Respect for Natural History
Whenever we use ancient woolly mammoth teeth, we see each handle as a piece of Earth’s story. When you hold one of our knives, you’re holding a connection to the story it carries.
6. Tools That Are Meant to Be Used
A great knife shouldn’t live in a drawer or on a display shelf. We build tools that feel good in the hand, hold up to real work, and bring pride every time you use them.
